About Us
What a Doula Is:
​
The Greek word doula means woman caregiver….We now use the word to describe a trained and experienced labor companion who provides the woman and her husband or partner continuous emotional support, physical comfort and assistance in obtaining information before, during and just after childbirth.
Our doulas have professional training and certification as birth doulas through DONA International. They hold certification as Childbirth Educators and Postpartum Doulas through CAPPA, the Childbirth Postpartum Professional Association. Additionally, they are Certified Lactation Counselors through a national organization, The Center for Breastfeeding. They have the tools required to assist you in understanding the process of giving birth and can give you information to help you make informed decisions.
